Hi, I’m Kylie Cook

Welcome to Cookylie !

I’m Kylie, and I’m so glad you’re here. This little corner of the internet has become my favorite place to share the kind of food that makes everyday life a little easier and a whole lot more delicious. Whether you’re rushing through a Tuesday evening or planning a weekend gathering, I hope you’ll find recipes here that feel doable, comforting, and worth making again and again.

How I Fell in Love with Cooking

I grew up in suburban Ohio in a house where dinner time was sacred. My mom worked full-time as a nurse, and somehow she still managed to put a hot meal on the table almost every night. Nothing fancy, just solid, honest food that brought our family together. I remember standing on a step stool next to her at the stove, watching her brown ground beef for sloppy joes or stir together a skillet of cheesy chicken and rice. She never followed recipes exactly. She’d taste as she went, adjust the seasoning, and always said the same thing: “Cooking is just common sense and a little bit of love.”

I didn’t realize how much those moments shaped me until I moved into my first apartment after college. I was working long hours at a marketing firm in Columbus, eating way too much takeout, and feeling pretty disconnected from the rhythms of home. One particularly stressful week, I called my mom and asked her to walk me through making her baked ziti. It wasn’t perfect, but it was warm and filling and reminded me of Sunday dinners growing up. That night, something clicked. Cooking wasn’t just about feeding myself. It was about creating something with my own hands, slowing down for a few minutes, and honoring the traditions that mattered to me.

From there, I started experimenting more. I’d try new recipes on weekends, invite friends over for casual dinners, and slowly built up a collection of go-to dishes that felt like mine. Cooking became my creative outlet, my stress relief, and honestly, my favorite way to show people I care about them.

Why I Started Cookylie

A few years ago, I started sharing recipes with friends and coworkers who were always asking me for ideas. They weren’t looking for complicated chef-level techniques or hard-to-find ingredients. They wanted real solutions for real life: what to make on a busy Wednesday, how to use up leftover chicken, or something comforting to bake when the weather turns cold. I realized there was a need for a space that focused on approachable, everyday recipes without all the fuss.

That’s why I created Cookylie. This website is for anyone who wants to cook more at home but doesn’t have hours to spend in the kitchen. It’s for busy parents figuring out what’s for dinner, beginners who are just learning their way around the stove, and anyone who believes that good food doesn’t have to be complicated. You’ll find a mix of everything here: quick weeknight dinners, classic comfort foods, easy desserts, and seasonal recipes that celebrate the flavors of each time of year. My goal is to make home cooking feel less overwhelming and a lot more enjoyable.

How I Develop My Recipes

Every recipe on Cookylie starts in my own kitchen. I’m not a trained chef, and I think that actually works in my favor. I cook the way most people do, with a regular home stove, standard grocery store ingredients, and a realistic amount of time. When I’m developing a recipe, I make it multiple times, tweaking measurements and techniques until I’m confident it’ll work for you the way it worked for me.

I pay close attention to the little details that can make or break a dish: how long something actually takes to caramelize, whether a substitution really works, or if a recipe needs an extra pinch of salt to bring everything together. I test everything as if I’m making it for my own dinner table, because in a way, I am. My hope is that when you follow one of my recipes, it turns out just as good for you as it did for me.

The Team Behind Cookylie

While I handle all the cooking and recipe writing, I’m lucky to have my husband, Marcus, working alongside me behind the scenes. He’s the tech-savvy one in our household and manages the website itself, handles our social media presence, and keeps everything running smoothly on the digital side of things. We make a pretty good team. I’ll be in the kitchen perfecting a new pasta recipe while he’s at his desk making sure the site is easy to navigate and that our content reaches the people who need it most. It’s become a true partnership, and honestly, I couldn’t do this without his support and encouragement.

My Commitment to You

I take recipe quality seriously. When I publish something on Cookylie, it’s because I genuinely believe it’s worth your time and ingredients. I’m not interested in padding my site with untested ideas or trends that don’t actually deliver. My commitment is to provide reliable, well-tested recipes that work in real home kitchens. I want you to feel confident when you choose one of my recipes, knowing that it’s been made with care and attention to detail.

Transparency is really important to me, so I want to be upfront about how this website is supported. Cookylie earns income through display advertising and occasional affiliate links, which means I may earn a small commission if you purchase something I recommend. This income helps cover the costs of running the site and allows me to keep creating new recipes for you. I only recommend products and ingredients I genuinely use and trust, and my opinions are always my own.

Let’s Cook Together
