Description

This Buffalo Chicken Pizza combines spicy buffalo sauce, shredded chicken, and a blend of cheeses on a crispy pizza crust, finished with a flavorful garlic butter parmesan crust and garnished with fresh herbs and red pepper flakes for a deliciously tangy and savory meal.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups shredded chicken
  • 1/3 cup buffalo sauce, plus more to drizzle on top
  • ¼ cup blue cheese dressing, divided (can substitute Ranch)
  • 1 lb. pizza dough, at room temperature
  • ½ cup pizza sauce
  • 1 ½ cups mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup red onions, thinly sliced
  • ¼ cup banana pepper rings, patted dry

Garlic Butter Parmesan Crust

  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
  • 1 teaspoon Parmesan cheese, grated
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic powder

To Garnish

  • Chives/Green Onions
  • Red Pepper Flakes
  • Parsley

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 450° F. If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven during preheating to achieve a more evenly cooked, crispier crust.
  2. Marinate Chicken: In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken, buffalo sauce, and 1 tablespoon of blue cheese dressing. Let this mixture marinate while you prep the other ingredients.
  3. Prepare Pizza Dough: Spread the pizza dough onto a lightly greased 12-inch pizza pan or pizza stone. Use a fork to poke holes all over the dough; this helps prevent bubbling during baking.
  4. Add Toppings: Spread the pizza sauce evenly over the dough. Sprinkle most of the mozzarella cheese over the sauce, then add the marinated chicken, red onions, and banana pepper rings. Top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  5. Drizzle Flavors: Drizzle 3 tablespoons of blue cheese dressing and 1 to 2 tablespoons of buffalo sauce evenly over the assembled pizza.
  6. Bake Pizza: Bake the pizza in the preheated oven for 13 minutes. After baking, remove it from the oven.
  7. Prepare Garlic Butter Crust: Mix the melted butter, grated Parmesan cheese, and garlic powder in a small bowl. Brush this mixture around the crust edges of the pizza.
  8. Final Bake: Return the pizza to the oven and bake for an additional 3 minutes, or until the crust turns golden brown.
  9. Garnish and Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven and garnish with chopped green onions, red pepper flakes, and parsley. Slice into 8 pieces and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use Marie’s Chunky Blue Cheese dressing for the best flavor, found refrigerated in the produce section. Ranch dressing works as a substitute.
  • Frank’s Buffalo Sauce is recommended for authentic buffalo flavor.
  • Use low moisture whole milk shredded mozzarella for optimal melting. Avoid fresh mozzarella as it is too wet for this recipe.
  • You can save time by using store-bought refrigerated pizza dough or try making your own homemade dough for added freshness.
  • For even cooking and a crispier crust, preheat a pizza stone before baking the pizza.
  • Store leftovers properly and reheat for best quality; see blog post for detailed storage and reheating tips.
