Description

This Turtle Crockpot Candy is a rich and indulgent treat combining toasted pecans, multiple types of melted chocolate, and iconic Rolo candies. Slow-cooked to perfection in a crockpot, this candy is easy to make and perfect for gifting or special occasions. Optional sea salt and sprinkles add extra flavor and festivity.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 32 ounces pecan halves
  • 32 ounces chocolate almond bark, cubed
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate
  • 12 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ teaspoon salt

Toppings

  • 75 Rolo candies, unwrapped
  • Sea salt, optional
  • Sprinkles, optional

Instructions

  1. Add Ingredients to Crockpot: Place pecans, cubed almond bark, bittersweet chocolate, semi-sweet chocolate chips, and salt into a 4 or 6-quart crockpot. Do not stir before cooking.
  2. Cook on Low: Set the crockpot to low and cook for 1 hour without stirring to allow the ingredients to start melting and combining.
  3. Stir and Continue Cooking: After 1 hour, stir the mixture thoroughly to blend the melting chocolates and pecans. Continue cooking on low for an additional 45 minutes, stirring again to ensure the chocolate is fully melted.
  4. Prepare Workspace for Candy: Turn off the crockpot. Lay two long strips of wax paper on a clean, level surface. Arrange the unwrapped Rolo candies about 3 inches apart on the wax paper.
  5. Assemble Candy: Using a tablespoon, scoop mounds of the chocolate-coated pecan mixture and place them over the top of each Rolo candy. Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt and festive sprinkles.
  6. Set Candy: Allow the candies to cool and set completely before enjoying or packaging them for storage or gifting.

Notes

  • If almond bark is unavailable, substitute with white chocolate and add 1 tablespoon of shortening to achieve the right consistency.
  • Store the finished candy in an airtight container in a cool, dark place for 2 to 3 weeks, or freeze for up to 6 months.
  • For holiday variations, use colored sprinkles to add seasonal flair, such as orange and black for Halloween or red and green for Christmas.
  • Milk chocolate chips can be used instead of semi-sweet chips for a sweeter, creamier flavor.
  • Substitute pecans with any nut of choice, or replace nuts entirely with Chex or Rice Krispies cereal for a different texture.
  • Adding 1 cup of craisins to the mix can provide additional flavor and chewiness.
