Ingredients
Scale
For the Steak:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tablespoon sriracha, or to taste
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 1/4 pound sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
For the Potatoes:
- 3 tablespoons butter, divided
- 1 pound gold baby potatoes, quartered
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1/2 teaspoon dried rosemary
- Salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste
- Parsley, for garnish
- Parmesan, for potatoes, optional
Instructions
- Prepare the Marinade: In a large bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, balsamic vinegar, sriracha, and Worcestershire sauce. Whisk all ingredients together until well combined.
- Marinate the Steak: Add the sirloin steak cubes to the marinade; stir to coat evenly. Set aside to marinate while preparing the potatoes.
- Heat the Skillet: Place a large 12-inch skillet over medium-high heat to warm up.
- Add Fat for Potatoes: Add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 tablespoon butter to the hot skillet.
- Cook the Potatoes: When the oil is hot and butter melted, add the quartered potatoes to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for about 15 minutes, stirring frequently until potatoes are tender and golden brown. Remove potatoes from skillet and transfer to a plate; set aside.
- Prepare Steak Cooking Base: Wipe down the skillet to remove any residue and return it to medium heat. Add the remaining 2 tablespoons of butter, minced garlic, dried thyme, and dried rosemary to the skillet, allowing the butter to melt and infuse the flavors.
- Cook the Steak Bites: Remove the steak bites from the marinade, shaking off excess liquid. Add the steak bites to the hot skillet in a single layer.
- Sear the Steak: Cook the steak bites for approximately 1 to 2 minutes on each side, or until they achieve a nice brown crust and are cooked to your preferred doneness.
- Reheat the Potatoes: Return the cooked potatoes to the skillet with the steak bites, stirring to combine and heat through.
- Season to Taste: Taste the mixture for salt and adjust seasoning as needed.
- Finish and Garnish: Remove the skillet from heat. Garnish the dish with fresh parsley and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the potatoes if desired.
- Serve: Plate the garlic steak bites with potatoes immediately and enjoy your meal.
Notes
- Use sirloin steak for tender and flavorful bites; you can also substitute with ribeye or filet mignon cubes.
- If you prefer less heat, reduce or omit the sriracha.
- Ensure potatoes are cut evenly for uniform cooking.
- Wiping the skillet between cooking potatoes and steak prevents burning and allows fresh flavors.
- Parmesan cheese is optional but adds a nice savory finish to the potatoes.
- Fresh herbs can be used instead of dried thyme and rosemary for a brighter flavor.
- Serve with a side salad or steamed vegetables to make a complete meal.
