Ingredients
Scale
Base
- 3 cups cocoa Rice Krispies
- 1 cup peanut butter
- 1 cup milk chocolate chips
Topping
- 36 Cadbury mini eggs
Instructions
- Melt the chocolate chips: In a microwavable-safe bowl, melt the milk chocolate chips by heating in 30 second intervals on low power, stirring between each interval until the chocolate is fully melted and smooth.
- Combine peanut butter and chocolate: Immediately after melting, stir the peanut butter into the melted chocolate until the mixture is thoroughly combined.
- Mix with Rice Krispies: Pour the chocolate and peanut butter mixture over the cocoa Rice Krispies. Stir gently but thoroughly so that the cereal is fully coated with the chocolate-peanut butter mixture.
- Prepare the muffin tin: Grease a 12-count muffin tin using butter or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Fill the muffin cups: Evenly scoop the coated cereal mixture into each muffin cup, filling them fully to shape the nests.
- Form the nests: Use a round measuring spoon or your fingers to slightly hollow out the center of each filled cup, creating a nest shape with raised edges to hold the eggs.
- Chill to set: Place the muffin tin in the refrigerator or freezer and chill until the nests are firm and hardened, about 20 minutes in the fridge or 10 minutes in the freezer.
- Add the eggs and serve: Once hardened, place three Cadbury mini eggs into the center of each bird nest. Your no-bake chocolate bird nests are now ready to enjoy!
Notes
- Store the nests in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 1 week to maintain freshness.
- You can freeze the bird nests in an airtight container for up to 1 month. Thaw in the fridge before serving.
- Make sure when forming the nests that the edges come up high enough so the eggs won’t roll off.
- Use dark chocolate chips instead of milk chocolate for a richer flavor.
- This recipe works well with mini muffin tins too for smaller-sized bird nests.
