Ingredients
Scale
Butter Mixture
- ½ cup unsalted butter very soft
- 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
Assembly
- 8 slices white bread
- 12 slices mozzarella cheese
- 6 ounces pepperoni
- Warm pizza sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a medium-sized bowl, combine the soft unsalted butter, grated parmesan cheese, garlic powder, and dried Italian seasoning. Mix thoroughly until the ingredients are well incorporated and form a smooth butter mixture.
- Spread Butter on Bread: Evenly spread the flavored butter over one side of each bread slice. Lay the slices butter side up on a sheet tray and set aside until ready to assemble the sandwiches.
- Assemble the Sandwich: Heat a skillet over medium-low heat. Place one slice of bread butter side down in the skillet. Layer one slice of mozzarella cheese on top, then add 6 slices of pepperoni. Follow with another slice of mozzarella cheese, 6 more pepperoni slices, and a final slice of mozzarella cheese.
- Top and Cook: Place the second slice of bread on top, butter side up. You may have leftover pepperoni depending on quantity. Cover the skillet with a lid to help melt the cheese while cooking.
- Cook Until Golden Brown: Cook the sandwich for about 3-5 minutes until the bottom bread is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula, cover again, and cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted.
- Repeat and Serve: Repeat the assembly and cooking process with the remaining bread slices and ingredients. Serve the sandwiches immediately alongside warm pizza sauce for dipping and enjoy.
Notes
- For a crispy sandwich, place finished sandwiches on a wire rack over a sheet tray to prevent steam build-up and sogginess on the bottom.
- You can substitute white bread with sourdough or whole wheat bread for a different flavor and texture.
- If you prefer a spicier kick, add crushed red pepper flakes to the butter mixture or sprinkle inside the sandwich.
- Use low-moisture mozzarella for best melting and less sogginess.
- Make sure the butter is very soft to spread evenly on the bread slices.
