Ingredients
Scale
Salad
- 3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix
- 1 cup milk (use less for thicker dressing, recommended: 3/4 cup)
- 8 oz Cool Whip or 1 cup heavy whipped cream
- 5 Granny Smith apples, chopped
- 5 Snickers bars, full size, chopped
Optional Topping
- 1 Granny Smith apple, cored and sliced or chopped
- 2–3 Snickers bars, chopped
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce and/or chocolate sauce
- 1/4 cup chopped peanuts
Instructions
- Prepare the pudding mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the instant vanilla pudding mix with 1 cup of milk (use 3/4 cup for a thicker dressing), whisking continuously until the mixture thickens and becomes smooth.
- Fold in the Cool Whip: Gently fold in 8 ounces of Cool Whip (or 1 cup of heavy whipped cream) into the pudding mixture until fully incorporated and creamy.
- Add the apples and Snickers: Fold in the chopped pieces of 5 Granny Smith apples and 5 chopped full-size Snickers bars, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the salad.
- Chill the salad: Cover the bowl and refrigerate the salad until you are ready to serve, allowing flavors to meld and the texture to firm up.
- Prepare the topping: Just before serving, arrange sliced or chopped Granny Smith apple pieces on the top of the salad. Sprinkle with chopped Snickers bars, drizzle caramel and/or chocolate sauce over the top, and finish by sprinkling chopped peanuts for extra crunch and flavor.
Notes
- Store the salad in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days to maintain freshness.
- For make-ahead preparation, add all salad ingredients except the toppings; add toppings just before serving for best texture and appearance.
- If you must add toppings earlier, toss the apples in lemon juice to prevent browning.
- Use Cool Whip for convenience or heavy whipped cream for a richer texture.
- Adjust milk quantity to achieve desired pudding consistency.
