Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- ⅓ cup mascarpone cheese – preferably at room temperature
- 12 savoiardi biscuits (3.5 oz / 100 g) – ladyfingers
- 3 tablespoons brewed espresso coffee
- 3 teaspoons sifted powdered sugar
- Cacao powder for dusting
Instructions
- Brew espresso: Brew 3 tablespoons of espresso coffee and allow it to cool completely before using.
- Crush ladyfingers: Place the savoiardi biscuits in a blender or food processor and blitz until they reach a fine powder consistency.
- Prepare cream mixture: In a bowl, combine the mascarpone cheese and sifted powdered sugar. Add the cooled espresso and mix together thoroughly to create a smooth cream mixture.
- Combine mixture: Add the crushed ladyfinger powder to the cream mixture. Using a rubber spatula, stir together until well combined into a thick batter-like consistency resembling cookie dough.
- Form truffles: Scoop a teaspoon of the mixture with your fingers and roll it into a ball. Place the formed balls on a plate. Repeat with the remaining mixture to make about 10 truffle balls.
- Chill: Place the truffle balls in the refrigerator to set for 1 hour. For a firmer texture, chill them longer if preferred.
- Coat with cacao: Pour cacao powder into a small bowl and drop the chilled truffle balls one at a time into the powder, rolling them to coat evenly.
- Serve: Arrange the coated Tiramisu Truffles on a serving plate and enjoy this elegant dessert treat.
Notes
- Use freshly brewed espresso for the best authentic flavor, but strong coffee or instant espresso dissolved in water can be substituted.
- Room temperature mascarpone blends more easily and helps achieve a creamy texture.
- If the mixture is too wet, add a little more crushed ladyfingers to reach the desired consistency.
- Store truffles covered in the refrigerator and consume within 2-3 days for maximum freshness.
- For a decorative twist, you can roll the truffles in finely chopped nuts or chocolate shavings instead of cacao powder.
